For starters!

 

For thousands of years man had a desire to express, in a graphic form, through various symbols, his qualities, deeds and the surrounding world. In that desire could we find reasons for the existence of Arms.

Arms get separated from symbolism and heraldry as science gets born around the mid-12^th century with the emergence of the first seals with Arms.

 

What is heraldry, in fact?

One of the definitions claims that heraldry is an auxiliary historical science that studies the beginning and development of Arms, their elements, characteristics and usage.

This is a usual example, as definitions go, trying to cramp all data into a single sentence, which does not go well with the nature of heraldry. Heraldry, as a science and art, is a vibrant and constantly developing form, somehow entirely delightfully incomprehensible.

 

During the reign of Emperor Dushan the Mighty, some heraldic customs were established. The process went faster in western Serbian lands and a bit slower and more erratic in the eastern ones. In any case, the seed that was sown then sprang up during time into a strong tree of Serbian heraldic tradition that has endured to this day…

 

About us

For a long time now, a group of heraldic enthusiasts has been trying to find their corner, a place for gathering, exchange of opinions or talk on new findings. Respecting the highest heraldic authorities in Serbia and cherishing traditional Serbian and European values there came into being The Society of Serbian Armigers “Milosh Obilich”.

Our goal is, via forum discussions, news &, information exchange, to become a part of Serbian and World chain of dedicated enthusiasts who in heraldry and similar disciplines find spiritual source and inspiration.
